Mexico Week 86: AP Work and New Investigators
Hey Guys!!
Thanks for your letters!!
It’s always great to read them and learn new things hahaha...like Brinkley
having a boyfriend ;) Sounds like
everyone is doing great. Sounds like
everyone is working hard and making money hahaha! Awesome! I am glad Braxley is
keeping up with the saxaphone.
Things
here are going pretty good. We have some
more work going on in our area now. Hahahaha, we have 2 investigators and
actually they both want to get Baptized, we just need to keep working with them
so that they are ready to make this Covenant. Their names are Juana and Linda.
Well this week has been
pretty busy. We have been working hard
trying to get some new stuff going on in the Mission like training meetings and
stuff. We are really trying to work on planning here in the Mission. My comp
and I will be working with the Zone Leaders the next couple of weeks to help
them plan good and train their zones. This week we found out that in the whole
Mission we only baptized 40. Hahaha, we
are the second smallest Mission in Mexico now and we don’t Baptize a lot. That worries us a lot but we are working on
it. It seems like this month we are going to Baptize quite a bit as a Mission
but we still need to get better.
This week we will have a lot
of work to do. Tomorrow an Elder is going home for some stuff. We are getting
an Elder back who went home for surgery. On Wednesday we are going to lose another Elder
who is going home for surgery too on his foot. Hahaha, we have a lot of moving around and we
need to organize it all and take some Elders to their new areas. We are also
planning on dividing a zone that is really big. That means we will have 6 zones
in our little Mission hahaha, and each zone will have their own Stake. A lot of
good things are going on right now.
Well there is not much
else to report. I am happy and loving
life. Hahahaha, soon I will be home
which will be exciting but I am getting nervous. I hope things will keep going
good. I just need to trust in God and do what my heart tells me. I hope everything is good back home. Love you all and hope that you have a great
week!!

Mexico Week 80: Being an Example
Hey
Family!!
Well
it’s August!! I can’t believe that these 2 years have gone by so fast! November is getting close...it’s true, it’s
going to be hard to go home. I love this work but I know that to be able to
progress I need to get on with my life hahaha. I am happy that you are all
having a great time back at home. That is great that you boys and dad went to
scout camp. I hope you are all ready for school...sounds like you are :) I hope
that you all study and work hard...it’s worth it. Make friends, have fun, and
get good grades!
Grandma,
I am sorry that you are sick. I will be praying for you. I invite you to ask
for a blessing from a Priesthood holder. It will help you. Just remember that you are in my prayers and I
love you.
Thank
you for all writing me. I am happy to
see that everyone is receiving blessings! This week my comp and I have been working real
hard. We have been trying to figure out how to help the Elders in our Zone. Last week in the Zone we had 0 Baptism dates
and it really got us worried. We cracked down the whip on them and told them to
get dates!! Hahahaha, of course we needed to be an example and so this week we
got 3 dates!! And in the Zone we have 8 :) I am happy and know that the Spirit is working
with us! My comp and I will be Baptizing
2 this Saturday! It’s going to be
awesome. They are both young, David Andres is 14 years old and Miranda is 13
years old. They both have over a year listening to the Missionaries. It’s going to be awesome. We hope to Baptize 6
this month my comp and I. We got alot of work to do.
Well
I gotta go! Lots wrote me today, Bishop Turner wrote me :) I love you all and
hope that you all have a great week!!
Love,
Elder Lester

Mexico Week 79: For the Temple is a House of God
Hola
Familia!!
Thank
you for writing me :) I always love to read your letters. That stinks about
your leg Kasey. Hope that it heals up soon! Sounds like everything has just been going
great. I am doing great!! My new comp is Awesome! His name is Elder Lopez and is from Ecuador.
He is a great worker and sooooo cool hahahahaha. I hope that everything goes
great in this change. I feel like we will have alot of success. That is awesome
that the boys are going to get some merit badges this weekend! I hope that they
have a great time. I hope that you are all ready for school and stuff hahaha.
Well
I will just get to the point of my email...and why I put down that subject for
the email. On Saturday, a family that I Baptized in Haulcaltzingo went to the
Mexico City Temple and got Sealed. The
sister, Lorena got her Endowment. It was great news!!! Even better news is that
my comp and I got to go!!!! Hahahahahahha it was so sweet! We got permission to
go to Mexcio City and go to the Temple to see my converts get married and Sealed to each other and their little baby boy. It was such an experience. I
wanted to send pics but of course there is not a place to put in my memory card
so I can’t :( I don’t like the internet
here hahaha. It was so awesome!! The Spirit
was so strong and I felt like I recharged myself spiritually! It was the best day of the Mission. I could not help but cry as I saw Hermana
Lorena and Hermano Pedro get Sealed and especially to their little son. I was
so happy.
México City México Temple
After
we left the Temple...around 5ish we went to eat tortas. After we ate we went in
a bus to the station and I counted my money and we did not have enough to get
home. We were a little worried but I said a prayer in my heart as well as my
companion and we felt so sure that we were going to get home. We got to the bus
station and we checked our mission credit cards...nothing. I checked my card
from home....nothing hahaha. We started walking...more worried and we heard a
man yell behind us "Mormones" hahahahahaha. We turned around and it was
a brother from here in Tlaxcala in our stake and we know him. He asked us about
why we were in Mexico and we told him that we went to the Temple. He was
walking with a bag carrier and told us to contact him hahaha, and as we
contacted him the brother left to buy his ticket, but our prayers were answered
and he bought us tickets as well!! We
got back to Puebla and he bought us pizza as well and him and his wife drove us
all the way home. My comp and I were so surprised and we gave so much thanks in
our prayers to Heavenly Father. It was amazing.
I don’t know how in the world we found a
brother in the biggest city in the world, from the smallest state in Mexico,
from our stake who knew us and who has money. All I can say is that God loves us and watches
out for us. I know that He answers every prayer. I am so grateful to Him.
Our
investigators are doing great. The
Familia Minor is just doing great. They still have not gone to Church but they
have the desire to be Baptized and pray and read to know. We have been visiting
alot of people and doing alot of teaching. We are having alot of progress and
we hope to Baptize soon again. Everything has been going just great. This week
we have to go to Puebla for the Zone Leader Council. That is going to be sweet
like always. I am excited for the work.
It’s
going to be hard to go home but I know that God will help me to be able to keep
working in His work as long as I am faithful. This is a Church of workers not a museum of Saints
who just go on Sundays. We have alot of
work to do...in our wards, stakes, and in the Temple to be able to help God
finish His work and glory. The most
important work we do is with our families. I am dedicated to love and cherish my future
family so that God can work miracles through us.
I
hope you all have a great week!! I love and miss you tons!!
Love,
Elder
Lester

Mexico Week 78: Transfer for Elder Nuncio & Baptism of Elvia
Hey
there!!
Well
just to let you know my comp, Elder Nuncio has transfers :( I was really
excited to stay with him again. He has been my best comp so far in the mission.
We Baptized last Friday, Hermana Elvia. She
has been listening to the Missionaries for 7 months now and she finally decided
to be Baptized! I got to Baptize her and it was an awesome Baptism service.
Things have just been going pretty great.
I am
glad to hear Kasey that you had a great time at EFY. I wrote to
your email because I thought you were still there but then I read that you
are home now hahaha. I hope that you had a great time and that you
always remember that time in your life. Hopefully you will be able to
go back next year :)
I
am sorry for not sending pics. I
have not had a computer that permits me to download stuff. The internets
are weird here because they are business and not in the homes because not
everybody has money to have a computer in their home.
Well
things are going pretty great. We had a sweet ward activity the
other day. Our investigator family went. The Familia Minor. They are
awesome! I really hope that they get Baptized. We have been working with them alot and
we hope to have alot of success with this family. I pray each day that they can
receive a testimony and know that this is the true church. They are
really Catholic but that’s what I like because if they are Baptized
they will always be faithful and active in the church.
Thank
you all for you letters. I hope everything continues to go well for
you all. I love you all and
hope that you all have a great week! I promise to try and send pictures soon
hahaha. I have alot of pics hahaha!

Mexico Week 77: Summer Rain
Hey there
everyone!
Well
this past week was a great week! Not alot happened hahaha, but it was a great
week. We worked real hard and we had alot of success. This is the last week of
the transfer so we will have to see next week if I will still be with my
companion. I really hope so. He has been my best comp so far. I love him,
he is a great friend.
Thanks
for all writing me haha! Sounds like you
are all having a great time back at home. I hope that it continues to be a blessing for
you all. I pray for you each day and
hope that you are all happy. I hope that
you all have blessings. Just to let you
know...I will leave Thanksgiving plans up to you guys. Just let me all know how it’s going to work out.
I really would love to be with everyone
and have a good, fun, happy, and peaceful time with all.
We
have been working really hard. I love
the mission. I am a little scared for
what is to come in the future but I am happy. We are teaching a new family that we found
last week. The Familia Minor Hernandez. They
are really great. They are really
Catholic too, but we have been able to teach with the Spirit and it seems like
they know that it’s true. It’s amazing
to see how the Spirit really works with us to help people receive testimonies.
We have another lesson with them on Tuesday so we will see how that goes.
It
continues to rain real hard here. It’s crazy! I have gotten so wet and muddy hahahahaha! It’s part of the work!
I
love you all and hope that you all have a great week. Thank you so much for your support and love. I hope that you all have fun. I pray for you
each day and hope that the blessings come in your lives.
Love,
Elder
Lester

Mexico Week 73: Zona Tlaxcala
Hey Everyone!
I hope everything is going great back at home!! Well I am now in Tlaxcala as a Zone Leader. My comp is Elder Nuncio, Mexican, and he is really awesome!! I love him and am so happy to be with him. We are the Zone Leaders here and we are going to have a lot of work to do with the Mission splitting and stuff. We are going to be traveling a ton!! I am way excited and ready to get to work.
Thanks for your letters. Just to let you know Grandma, there are not any taco bells here. Hahahaha, actually I think that I will never go to taco bell again after the Mission. They are not tacos at all!! Congrats Kasey and Kolby for getting your Eagle Scout awards!! That’s awesome! Keep it up! I hope that you all have a great summer. Just to let you know Mom, I got your package and thank you tons!! My comp and I already ate all the food hahahaha :) Brink, I wrote Sean and he is doing good. He is going to be a great Missionary.
Well I don’t have much time to write. Things have been going great. I am trying to get back into the routine of being a Missionary again hahaha, and not a Branch President. I am back on track teaching and getting ready to Baptize alot. It’s fun just being a normal Missionary working hard. I have made the goal to be 100% obedient these last 5 months that I have in the Mission. It’s hard but it is so worth it. I am so glad to be in the Mission. I have learned alot.
I am grateful for the Atonement of Christ and am so grateful that here in the Mission
I have really learned how to use it each day of my life. I am so happy that He paid the price so that
we can return to His house. He really really wants us just to work hard and do
our best because He loves us. If we do our best we will return home again with Him.
He never leaves us alone if we fulfill what
He has commanded us to do.
This week we have been teaching a sister, Elbia, and she is great. We put a Baptism date for her for the 7th of July. She didn’t want to accept so we were praying real hard so that she would feel that it is the right thing to do. On Sunday our prayers were answered. The second counselor in the Stake Presidency gave a talk about receiving revelation and the importance to make goals and accept dates so that the adversary doesn’t tempt us hahaha. It was exactly what Elbia needed and my comp and I just looked at each other like WOW! Hahahaha, God answers prayers hahaha!! I know He does.
Well I gotta go. I love you all and hope that you have a wonderful week!!
Love,
Elder Brady Lester

Mexico Week 65: Branch and Missionary Work
Hey Family!!
Thank you for all your lovely letters of
support and love. I love reading your letters each Monday. They inspire me and
help me keep up with my English, hahahahaha. Happy Birthday to Baliee...how old are you now?
Hahahaha, Grandma, just to let you know you are allowed to send
me pictures and I would love that very much!
Things have been crazy here in Puebla...well I
am far away from Puebla, but still. The volcano, Mom, is actually a volcano in
Puebla. My son, Elder Escamilla is
actually working right under it hahahaha, and also Castillotla is about an hour
and a half from it. It has been a little angry that volcano I have heard, but I
am a good 3-4 hours away from that thing, so things here are tranquilo, hahaha.
Things are also crazy because in July Mexico
will be voting for another president just like us in November. By the way how is Mitt doing? Is he winning? The weather here is very nice. It’s a little
warm but not too much...it’s like Utah summer, the sun just burns a lot,
hahaha. Things are going great other than that. I hope that the Suns make the
playoffs...we must pray for them, hahaha.
Well this past week we were able to get a lot done...well more than usual. Elder Cano and I now have 3 Baptism dates for the 4th of May which is really awesome because it’s hard to Baptize here and usually the best Missionaries only Baptize like 1-2 in 3-4 months. We have some great things going with some investigators. We don’t have a lot, only 10, but we are working with them and I believe that the majority of them will be Baptized.

This is the last week of the change though and
I think next Tuesday I will have another companion. I love Elder Cano, but he
has some time here and I think he will be going. In this change we are going to have some weird
things happening because the Mission will be splitting on the 1st of July. The President is going to call 4 assistants
next week in the changes so that they can start working and helping with the
division. There are going to be 4-6 secretaries as well for the division. We
still don’t know where we will be but if I stay here another 2 changes I will
be in the North Mission...which means I would be with President Christensen. Hahahahaha, if that happens, I will have 5
Mission Presidents in my Mission!! (counting the MTC). I don’t think that happens a lot to many Missionaries.
Things are going great in the branch so far. We are really trying to get our auxiliary presidents working because we really are working to build up the assistance and strengthen the Faith of the members. We have called some Sunday school teachers and we started Mutual last Saturday :) We have called a family history consultant (which I am really excited for) and we have called 1 leader of young single adults, and we will be calling another. We are doing all of this to help the members understand how the Church really is and how much of a Blessing it is to be a member. It’s also really going to help us have a plan to reactivate members who are inactive. I am really excited for what is going on here in Chignahuapan, it’s just really hard to do, hahaha. I have my respects for all the Bishops in the world. Their job is hard and they are really blessed for it.
One of my responsibilities is taking care of the branch budget and the tithing....basically all of the money. If I steal or lose one peso I am done for, hahahaha. Yesterday I had to deal with $20,000 pesos of Tithing!! It was a lot of cash, hahahaha. I also had to make a 3 month budget for the branch. We decided to put in a lot of money in the new program of the young single adults. Not a lot go and the program is new, but we are really expecting a lot.
Well things are going good. Hahaha, if I get a new comp the first thing we are going to do is clean our house because Elder Cano and his last comp were pigs, hahaha. I am happy and time is just flying by. It would be nice to get an extension on my Mission but I really doubt that will happen because they want me home for Christmas, hahaha. I love the Mission and the things that I have learned. It’s quite the experience. It’s not how they say it is in Primary or the MTC, but it’s great.

Repentance is a lovely thing that I have
learned about in the Mission. That has been my favorite part so far. Seeing how the Atonement of Christ works in
the lives of my investigators and especially in my life. I am so grateful for
Jesus Christ and what He did for us. It’s
something that really is beautiful. I help members every week go through the
process of Repentance and although it’s hard...it’s worth it. I know from
experience as well. I have made mistakes in the Mission...but I have seen how
beautiful this Gospel really is. Forgiveness
really is a miracle.
I hope everything is going great. Just
to answer questions...I am in the middle of nowhere, hahaha. You guys can look this place up online...it’s
famous. We don’t shop and we have to eat
a lot in the street because the members are really poor here so they don’t give
us much food. As President, I have to
give them money for food and transport, and after I ask for a refund of my
money. It’s a beautiful thing to help
the poor...even though I am poor as well, hahahaha. The mountains are really pretty here. There
are a lot of places to go camping and fishing and stuff. I will send pictures very soon. I love you all and hope that you have a great
week!!
With Love,
Elder Brady Lester

Mexico Week 59: Miracle of Felipe
Hey Everyone,
Thanks for your letters and kind words. That’s sweet that you guys saw Kobe Bryant! Hahaha, I hope that you are having a great time in California. I sure am jealous. I would love to be there right now, hahaha!! It’s been raining the past couple of days here in Tlaxcala. It’s been hard too. We have lost a few investigators and we are trying to find new ones but nobody seems to want the Gospel in their lives. Dad and Mom...what were some ways that you guys found investigators in your mission?? Maybe that could help us out a bit.
Well next week we will probably have changes. I hope to get a new companion. I love Elder Estevez but I am getting a little tired of being with him. He has not changed too much but he is getting better. I wonder if I will be in Loma Florida still next week. Who knows?? I will let you all know! I would like to stay here but yet leave. I like this area but I would like to get to know more areas!
So although we have been having troubles with finding we did find a new investigator while knocking doors. His name is Felipe. He is awesome!! A golden investigator! He really loves reading from the BOM and the Bible. He says that the BOM is true and that Joseph Smith was a prophet. He has a Baptism date for the 24th of March and so things are looking good right now :) He also used to smoke 2 boxes a day when we first talked to him since he was 12 years old!! But after talking about the Word of Wisdom and giving him a Blessing he has not smoked a single cigarette for now 1 week!! He is so awesome! We just need to find out if he is married or not. I think he is but marriage usually is a problem here in Mexico, hahahaha.
So how are your studies in the BOM?? I would like to see what you guys are learning or read your testimonies to help me out.
Well I gotta go. I hope that things are going well for you guys. I hope that you guys see blessing in your lives. I hope that the Lord thinks that I am a good missionary. Sometimes I feel like He doesn’t because I think the President doesn’t trust me much but I know that I can be better. I will also try and get better in writing. I am just not a very good writer. I love you all and I thank you for your support. I hope that you have a great week!!
Love,

Mexico Week 58: Apostle!
Hello everyone!
Love,
Well I have some great news!! On the 1st of July you guys already know that the mission will be splitting into two missions. We just got news today that Presidente Ralph N. Christensen will lead the Puebla North Mission and President Reeves in the Puebla South Mission. I would really love to be with Presidente Reeves but I feel that I will be in the North Mission with President Christensen. We still don't know who will be where. Because of this great thing that is happening on the 14th of April Elder David A. Bednar will be coming to talk to us!!! An Apostle!! Its going to be awesome! I cant wait. We have to prepare ourselves for this and repent so that we can learn from the Spirit. Also some other good news is that Loma Florida is going to get a church building this year!! Which means they wont have a House of Prayer anymore!! I am so happy that the work of the Lord is growing here in Mexico.
Thank you for all writing me. I loved your letters :) Dad if you could send me your address again so that I can write you please? Mom and Brinkley I will be sending your letters this week. Thank you dad and Mom for giving me some money. That always helps so that I can eat dinner hahaha. It's just usually breakfast and lunch with the members. I only have one package request mom....shoelaces. I have my last pair and they are about to break. My Rockport shoes broke again hahaha. They are crappy shoes so we shouldn't buy those for Kasey when he goes on the Mission hahaha.
Well this week we worked hard. We taught a lot of lessons and we found 9 new investigators! We also invited the Fosado family to be Baptized on the 18th of March and they accepted! Things are going pretty good here. We need to help our investigators progress more towards Baptism and we must find new investigators, but I am very happy with the work right now in Loma Florida. I have almost 16 months in the mission and I feel like I am barely understanding how to do the work here, hahahaha. I pray that the Lord continues to bless us!!
Thank you all for your love, support, and prayers :) I love you all and hope you have a great week!!

Mexico Week 55: 4 Scheduled Baptisms - Martinez Family
Hey there everyone!!
Well, I don't have alot of time today. I am trying to get ready today because tomorrow really early we have to go to Puebla. We will have a Mission Conference so we will see how that goes, and after I have a leadership training. So I will be in Puebla all day long hahaha. It's going to be nice to get back there :) I miss it!! Thank you all for your letters and kind words. Things are going great here. There is Valentines Day here in Mexico, just to let you guys know, but since women aren't allowed I won't be spending it with anyone, hahahaha, well with my comp :)
So this past week was very interesting. We had a lot of success teaching and working with the members. We are getting alot of stuff done and the Bishop is really happy with our work. We are really excited for this weekend because we have 4 Baptisms planned!! It's the Martinez family. Pray with us so that they will be able to make this Covenant with the Lord. This past week I got 2 two Elders in my district and one is from Gilbert. He is new in the Mission and his name is Elder Webb. He says that he knows Brinkley. I still have the Sisters and the Zone Leaders in my District. I have never had Sisters before but they are doing great work and as their leader I am very happy with what they are doing. I have been very happy with the work of my District. We have improved alot from what we were at when I first got here, hahahaha.
Well I am sorry for the short letter but I don't have much time to write anyone. I love you all! I just sent a bunch a letters for the boys, the Hansen family, and the Bishop. I will get you Mom, dad, and Brinkley here in this week!! Watch out for them!! I love you all and hope you have a great week!!

Mexico Week 54: Cambios - not for Elder Lester
Hola everyone!!
Well thank you all for your letters!! Sounds like you all watched the Super Bowl...hahaha I am jealous. What shocks me is that you all wanted the team that I hate to win!! Hahahaha Brady is a good QB but I hate the Patriots. Hahaha Brinkley that is awesome that you are going to graduate soon. So how will you work? How does that go? Boys, sounds good about the eagle projects. Keep working hard so that you guys get things done!! Hahahaha dad you made me hungry with all that food that you mentioned!! I would love some of that!! Hahahah I hope work will keep going good and keeping you busy. Can you find an online job for me? I would like an online job so that I can focus on my studies. Mom sorry for not giving your Riggins info. His moms email is jvalderas@juno.com and her number is 425-330-9191. He lives in Washington but after serving in AZ for three months he wants to live there. We have plans. We want to start a jazz band and play baseball for BYU hahahaha, marry mexican girls, open up a taco place in AZ and break dance at all the clubs hahaha. We will see how all that happens. He also is going to come down to AZ my first week back home. Think he could stay with us??
Well that's enough of that. Things have been going great this past week. The Martinez family is progressing very well and their Baptism will be on the 18 :) The Fosado family is reading and praying but they have not come to Church yet and we are trying to help them with that. Today actually we are going to visit them with the Bishop. We are going to try to teach more with members so that our investigators go to Church! We have alot of plans. We really want to get working with the ward members and leaders. One of our plans is to teach the members lessons like if they were investigators. We feel like they will see that we want to work and have the desire if we do that. I hope that it works.
Today there were transfers. I am still in Loma Florida (Apizaco) with my comp...but Elder Riggin is gone :( He only has 4 months left in his mission and it will be very little that I see him so it's sad, but things are still going great!! Elder Riggin really is one of my missionary heros and I love him alot. He really has helped me out alot in the Mission especially when I was with Elder Rojas. We have only been together in the Mission for like 5 months but we both agree that we have known each other before this life too.
We have also been teaching another lady here named...Monica Diaz. She is a young lady with a family. We have only taught her but we really want to teach her whole family. We have had only one lesson with her about the BoM but she was great and really is interested. We hope to keep working with her. We also found a guy right next to the house of Monica. His name is Antonio Sanchez. He has accepted appointments so we are really excited to keep teaching him. He also makes sweet things out of oak wood. I think I am going to save up some money and buy myself a sweet looking statue type thing...it is the eagle and design on the Mexican Flag, and I want to have him put Mision Mexico Puebla Elder Lester on it. It's going to look sweet!!
So I hope everything at home is going great! I have not tried any new foods and I think it wil be hard for me to try new stuff now because I have 15 months in the Mission. So how is Jacob Handy? Is he going on a Mission? I would like to email him to see how he is. I hope things are great and I love you all tons!! Have a great week!!
Love,
Elder Brady Lester
I am getting Sisters in my District so we will see how that goes. They are opening up their area. Also I am getting another 2 new Elders in my District and they won't be here for another week because an American doesn't have his Visa yet. So I have alot of work to do to help out all these new Missionaries. It's going to be hard.

Mexico Week 53: Baptisms Scheduled!
Hey everyone!!
Well this will be a short letter because not much happened this week. Things are going alot better with my comp and I. We are getting alot of things done and he is really starting to pick it up. He is not scared anymore to talk and to teach. Things are going really well.
This past week we found a family of 4, the Martinez family, and we invited them to be Baptized on the 12th of February and they accepted!! I can't wait for that day!! They are a good family and still need some more teaching so that they understand what they are going to do but I pray that all will go through. We have also been teaching the Fosado family and they are doing great. Hahahaha now they need to give up coffee but they keep reading and accepting us. They fed us dinner the other day and they are so sweet. We are trying to help the brother find work. He was in Arizona for 4 years working in food city! Hahahaha sometimes we talk about AZ and the weather and stuff. He is a great guy!!
Not much else has happened this past week. Today we played basketball and it was fun! It's been forever that I have played and I am not as good as I used to be hahahahaha. I am sure the boys can kill me in basketball now!! Sounds like everything is going good!! Congrats on doing your Eagle Projects boys!! Keep doing good things and the Lord will bless you so much!! Brinkley keep working hard in your internship!!
I love you all and hope that you all have a great week!! We have a ton of appointments today in the evening so I gotta go! Thank you for your prayers and for your love!! You are the best :)
Love,
Elder Brady Lester

Mexico Week 52: WORK
Hello everyone!!
Well thank you for your letters and your kind words that really help me in the week. Each Monday is like the time to re-energize my spirits by reading your letters and emails. Things sound like they are going good. Are you thinking about wanting to move mom? I hope things keep going well in your lives and I know that the Lord is blessing you all. I only got like 9 1/2 months left in the mission and the time is just flying by. Before we know it I will be home and my life will have started. Meanwhile its on to WORK in the field of our Savior.
Well things have been getting better here in Loma Florida. We had a decent week this past week. It's been hard but I know that the Lord and the Mission President trust me alot when they send me to the hardest areas in the mission to get the work started (or maybe it's just punishment) hahahaha just kidding. This past week we really focused on teaching a family of 5 that we found. We had a great family night with a member family and we watched the movie of the Restoration. The dad in the family had a lot of questions about Joseph Smith and what he did so we felt it appropriate to watch the movie with them. It was a neat experience and the Spirit was very strong. This family always has alot of questions about the gospel and it really means that they are learning and wanting to know more. The other night we had a great lesson with them. They started talking about Baptism and wanted to know more about it. We started talking about the Priesthood and Baptism. It was a great lesson. We also felt impressed to talk about the Temple and we did. It was a great lesson and every time we talk with them the Spirit really guides the conversation and lesson. That night they accepted Baptism!! Now we just need to help the brother stop smoking and drinking because he does a little bit. It will be another family in the presence of God :) I cant wait!!
We have been contacting alot lately. Hey Alex, how many did you and your comp have to contact each week in Utah? Hahahaha the contacting is what has been hard for us. We will start up talks in the street and get an appointment but then we go by their house and they are not there, or it doesn't exist, and it's really hard because we have a ton of pueblos in our area!! So we are always taking buses and then they aren't home for the appointment. That is what has been hard for us right now. We keep working though. I have learned alot lately that WORK is what makes us happy. If we can learn how to do WORK we will have success in life, love our family and friends more, the Spirit will guide us, and we will feel the love of God in our lives. WORK is not fun all the time but it's what brings us satasfaction in our lives.
I have also learned a lot about Prayer. Every time we pray...we should receive revelation and guidance from the Lord. He really talks to us especially as we pray. Have you ever listened to what the Spirit has to say as you are praying?? He tells you what you need to say. Every prayer = Revelation. If we don't get it...it's because we don't know how to pray...because the Lord always answers. He loves us too much no to hahaha.
I love the mission and really the blessings of serving will come. I must be more humble to see them right now in my life, but I know that as we WORK the Lord always helps, guides, and bless us. If we give Him a crumb...He gives us the whole piece of bread!! I love you all and miss you all tons! Hope you all have a great and wonderful week!!

Mexico Week 43: Baptism of Alicia and Mastering the Language
Dear family and friends,
Thank you very much for all your letters and sweet words :) First of all I would like to wish a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my Grandma :) I love you tons!! I love you all! Kolby you are awesome!! Even though you didn't make the team you are staying positive and know that there is something that you need to work on. Find out what it is and work on it!! Ask your Father in Heaven to help you prepare and fix what you need to fix so that you make the team. We are taught in 2 Nephi 32:9 that we must pray before everything that we do. I think that includes basketball too :) Kasey are you going to try out for the high school team? Brinkley sounds like you are a busy bee!! Keep it up! Braxley, hahaha well you just like to read...keep reading but I hope that you are reading in the BOM too :) Mom I love you so much! You are the best Mom in the world. Thank you for sending the packages.
Well this past week I have really understood and realized that it's not easy for me to talk or write in English hahaha. I have to really think about the words and sometimes I forget words in English so I have to look online or in the dictionary to be able to talk...and I only have 1 year!!! My goal actually is to go home speaking very little English hahaha. I really want to master this language. I really would like to learn more languages after the mission and continue studying Spanish. Hopefully Travis will help me with my Portugese hahaha. Oh just so that you know Alex Helvig is almost done with his mission!! It went by fast! He goes home on the 20th of December. His president is sending him home a little early so that he can be home for Christmas cool huh! Well just to let you all know...they don't celebrate Thanksgiving here in Mexico :( But on Thursday the sister told us that she was going to make us mole with turkey so I guess you could say that I will still be a little connected with the turkey and all :)
Well in this past week we got a ton of references from the members!! It was awesome!! We got 8 and usually here we only get like 1-2 each week hahaha. We taught and got alot of new investigators which is what we were needing because they are all getting Baptized hahaha!! This past week Hna Alicia talked with a counselor of the Mission President (I love President Reeves) and she was considered repentative for what she did in her past and she got Baptized on Saturday!!!! The Bishop Baptized her and it was a sweet service. She was so happy after and is just loving being a member of the Church. On Sunday she got Confirmed. She is a great lady and has so much in store for her. Also yesterday in Church I taught the future missionaries in our ward with a former missionary and it was sweet. The Bishop wants me to teach that class and my companion to teach the class with the investigators. It's really cool. I have alot of sweet plans for the class. I want to invite members to be investigators so that they can teach. I want to go out and knock doors with them instead of being in the class. I am really excited. I love this area and ward. I really want to stay here for a long time hahahaaha.
Well things with the Baptisms that fell through look alright. The crazy girl is never home during the week only really late at night and on the weekends so we don't have much time to meet with them. The other Baptisms will happen, it's just a matter of time. They will progress :) I know that they will.
I would like to give my Testimony in Spanish.
I gotta go but I love you all and can't wait to talk with you on Christmas Eve :) Have a great week!!

Missionary Week 42: 1 AÑO this Week!
Hello Everyone!!
Thank you everyone for your letters and kind uplifting words. I always love reading your emails. Well this week was a very interesting week and I was thinking alot about what was going to happen today with me hahaha. I cried alot yesterday in church because I really love the members in Castillotla and wanted to stay really bad. I have prayed like crazy so that I would stay....and God answered my prayers hahaha. I stayed in Castillotla with Elder Escamilla!!! Hahahaha we are together again for another 6 weeks so we have changes on Christmas! I am so happy hahaha and shocked! I had no idea that I was staying. My district leader called me and told me that I had changes and I was expecting that so all I said was ok. After he told me that it was a joke and that we were both staying, my comp and I. Really Elder Escamilla and I jumped for joy!! I really think we are going to keep doing good here :)
Well not alot happened this past week. We had 6 baptisms planned and they all fell!! All of them!! One investigator, Hna Alicia, had her interview and didn't pass. Apparently she did something really bad in her life so she couldn't get Baptized and has to wait to talk with President or his counselors. Well this week she has an interview with them and so we really hope that she can get Baptized. She is a sweet spirit and really wants to get Baptized. Another Baptism, Hna Maria who is 12 years old, fell. She wants to get Baptized but her mom wants to listen to us first so that she knows what we do and teach, so we planned her Baptism, and Baptism for her mom in 15 days hahaha. It kinda turned out better. Our other investigator, Hna Gabriela who is 18 and wants to get Baptized, went to the doctors and they told her that she was crazy and that she needed help haha so she had no time this past week to talk and so we had to cancel her Baptism. Another family that we have been teaching for about a week just moved to a new house and has not had time to go to church so we had to cancel their Baptism for a while but they will get Baptized :) We think we could Baptize 7 in this month even though our goal is 5. We are really working hard and things are going good.
This past week we have been trying to find ways to improve the work here in Castillotla. We have been thinking of ideas of contacting and finding more people and we have been trying to work with the priests in our ward and want to put up a stand on a corner with a bunch of pamphlets and Book of Mormons. The young men's president in our ward really wants us to start working tons with the young men so we are trying to find ways to work with them. We are also getting really close to opening up a branch in this little village that we have in our area hahaha and we have permision and everything. We are just wanting to wait a bit more so that we can get the work started up really good. I feel that things will take more than one change and I might not be here but I will try my hardest to keep the work going here. I really want to see my vision that I had when I got here come to life.
Well honestly I have nothing else going on so I will just have to wrap up hahaha. I am grateful for all your love and support and I hope things are going well for you all!! I will be completing 1 year in the mission this week and the time has just passed by flying!!!
Love,
Elder Brady Lester

Mexico Week 40: Reading the Book of Mormon
Happy Halloween!!
Well just so that you all know, yes Mexico celebrates Halloween hahaha, but instead of asking for candy they ask for money hahaha, so the people give little money and sometimes candy. The funny thing is that they do it with their parents hahaha!! Every little kid that asks me for money, I just tell them that in my country they ask for candy, you should do the same hahaha. It's probably mean but I really don't have millions to give out to the little kids hahaha. They hardly dress up! But it's a holiday here. I hope you all have a great Halloween this night!! Baseball here by the way is a popular sport so I heard that the Cardinals did win and I am happy that they did. I just want the Dbacks to go all the way again!
Thank you for all your emails! I enjoy reading everyone of them :) I am glad that you all had decent and good weeks!! Remember that you are all in my prayers and thoughts. In about 1 year we will all see each other again hahaha, how crazy is that!! Really my mission has been passing by so fast and I feel like this last year will just pass by faster! I am really loving it here and I really love the people here. They are really nice and the members are always willing to help anyone. I really love them here. They have given me clothes, money, blankets to keep warm, and food.
Well in this past week Elder Escamilla and I have been working hard. We found a sweet family of 4 who let us in their house to talk. Well we started talking about the Restoration and the Book of Mormon and they all loved it. There is a little boy of 10 years who in the lesson said "Mom we need to get Baptized again because the Catholic church doesn't have the Priesthood." Hahahahaha how cool is that!! That first lesson we all invited them to be Baptized and they accepted! This week this sweet boy has been reading the pamphlets and the Book of Mormon and is pushing his family to listen and read and progress. He really is a great example! This past week we have also found a couple more new investigators who have accepted Baptism and look like they are going to progress.
This past two weeks we have invited our recent converts to join us in reading the Book of Mormon before Christmas. In our visits this week they have all read a ton!! Hno Fidel and his son are in Alma 28 and read 20 chapters one day!!! Hna Cony and her family are in 3 Nephi after 2 weeks!!! They are beating us!! I asked Hna Cony "are you sure that you are not in 2 Nephi" she told me no but that she is reading in 3 Nephi. Well I asked her "so you read all of Alma?" and she responed "ohhh Alma is the best book so far in the Book of Mormon!" hahahaha!! I could not believe it! They are just strong and faithful members!! This past week we also have been working really hard reactivating members in the ward so that we can achieve our goal in splitting the ward soon. Well yesterday in Sacrament meeting there were members standing outside the room because there weren't any seats!! It was awesome!! Hahahaha the Bishop really feels that we can split the ward if we keep working hard and Baptizing.
Things are going great here in Castillotla and I am really loving Missionary work! I don't have much more to say. I have not tried anything new food wise. I have alot of pictures to send but I forgot my camera again so next week I will get them on :) I love you all and hope you have a great week everyone!! Stay safe!
Love,
Elder Brady Lester
