Visa Update
Elder Lester hasn't received his Visa yet. In fact, the whole group going to Mexico hasn't received what is called a "Permission Letter" from the Mexican Government to proselyte in Mexico. That letter needs to be received BEFORE the Visa is granted. The Mexico Area offices are closed until January 15th, so the Missionary Department can't even find out anything until that time. Elder Lester's departure date is scheduled for the 24th of January, but if the letter and Visa doesn't come in time for him and the other Elders going to Mexico, then by the end of January we should know where he would be sent somewhere to serve temporarily. We knew this could happen. The Missionary Department said that 30-60% of foreign Missionaries can be sent somewhere temporarily while waiting for a Visa. He could be sent to places such as Idaho, Seattle, Utah, Vegas...anywhere close, so he can fly back to UT when the Visa comes, and then meet with the "Consolate" in UT. That same day he would fly to Mexico. Also, if he was sent somewhere like Idaho - winter weather, the opposite of what he packed for Mexico, the mission president will make sure he gets the winter clothing he needs. So we pray...and wait. He is so anxious to get to Mexico!
